Why Issue Challange Coins
Unit commanders have quickly realized that these coins were morale builders and served to build unit cohesion by telling the soldier "they are a member of the unit" Today, unit coins have become a standard part of the soldier's wallet; along with the Identification card, credit cards and driver's license.

Unit coins have become so popular; they are produced for just about any occasion. A former commander of the 20th SFG designed a coin for his unit and presented it to his soldiers when he retired. Coins are by no means restricted to the Armed Forces. Many corporations have coins and medallions made to commemorate special events, projects, and other unique achievements. Many of today's fire and police forces have coins depicting special acts or organizational units.

The "Unit Coin", after all is said and done, is a very unique way of recognizing service above and beyond the call of duty.
